"Goodbyes are not forever; are not the end. It simply means I'll miss you, until we meet again" -Author Unknown

A beautiful and vibrant 12 year old, Megan Trang Nguyen received her angel wings on May 11, 2017 after a brief illness surrounded by her loving family at Tulane-Lakeside Hospital for Women and Children in New Orleans.

Megan was born on June 4th, 2004, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, to parents Tuan Nguyen and Amy Banh. Always full of life, Megan was known by friends and family to be sweet, funny, and studious. She was a seventh grader at McKinley Middle School. She was an active member of the Beta Club, Choir, and the Fitness Club. Megan will be greatly missed by all her friends and teachers.

Megan always had a big heart for her friends and family. Even at her young age, she was mature and responsible beyond her years; she enjoyed looking after her younger siblings and little cousins. Also known as the "Snap Chat Queen," Megan always knew how to make everyone laugh with her silly antics and goofy personality. She loved swimming, music, fashion and spending time with her friends and family. She was a great daughter, granddaughter, sister, niece, cousin and friend who was taken away too soon from everyone who loved her. We will always remember the good times and joy that she brought to our lives, and she will be in our hearts and memories forever.

Left to forever cherish her memory are her parents, Tuan and Amy; her sisters, Kelly and Lexi; her brother Andrew; her grandmother Duoc Huynh; her grandfather Thi Nguyen; and a multitude of aunts, uncles and cousins who adored her. She is preceded in death by her grandfather Hai Banh, her grandmother Nga Nguyen, her uncle Cong Banh, and her aunt Connie Banh.

Family and friends are invited to attend the visitation which will be held on Saturday, May 13 from 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm and Sunday, May 14 from 3:00 pm - 8:00 pm with a service at 4:00 pm at Resthaven Gardens of Memory and Funeral Home.

Visitation will continue Monday, May 15 from 8:00 am-9:30 am. Megan's beautiful life will be celebrated in a ceremony at 9:30 am with burial services to follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory and Funeral Home. In honor of her short yet vibrant life, we ask that pink or purple be worn as those were her favorite colors.

Our family would like to express our deepest gratitude to the doctors and nurses at Tulane-Lakeside Hospital for Women and Children for their excellent care. Of course, we are saddened by Megan's passing, but we are comforted in knowing that she received the best care available. Your compassion and support helped us through a very difficult time, and we will never forget your kindness.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to help with medical bills and funeral expenses.

Family and friends may sign the online guestbook or leave a personal message for the family at www.resthavenbatonrouge.com.

Please accept my heartfelt sympathy. It is natural to experience a gamut of emotions at this time. However, please remember that when the death of a loved one cures that God is especially close to the broken hearted, that he truly cares about our feelings, He is the hearer of prayer. Revelation 21:4 promises that soon sickness, suffering, and death will gone forever. And John 5:28, 29 comforts us with the thought that we will see our loved ones again by means of the resurrection hope. I do hope that you allow God to help you heal through the comforting pages of the Bible.

Megan, it breaks my heart to see you go at such a young age. You were so sweet to your siblings and cousins that you always brought a smile upon our faces. You had such a bright future ahead of you and it's not fair that you had to leave so soon. It hurts so much to see you go but I know you'll be watching us from above, protecting all the people that love you. Here or not , we'all always be a family no matter what. You'll always be in our hearts and we'll do great things to make you proud. One day we'll all be together again to hangout like the cousins usually do. But for now, have fun in heaven! I heard it's nice up there!

Knowing that I won't be able to attend the funeral service, I just want to say that you guys have my prayers. I had just meet Megan in the 6th grade and we took math together like this year. We were work buddies and she would always laugh at my lame and cringy jokes. I wish I could hear that laugh again. I wish we could race to see who would get their work down first. I want her to be able to ask for my help again. I want it to be like a normal day today. She was a fantastic friend and I will miss her with all my heart. I will never forget her and that is a promise because we have so many good memories. It makes me sad, knowing that she won't have that first everyone should have. I will love Megan forever. I miss her. What I would do to have her with me, with everyone on this world again, smiling and laughing.

I am so very sorry to learn about Megan. My son, Cameron, and she attended BRCVPA and Mckinnley together. I spent several years with this group of kids; volunteering, substitute teaching, field trip chaperoneing; enjoying witnessing their growing up from sweet little kids to amazing young adults. We celebrated their achievements alongside each other. I am praying for your family and everyone who loved Megan. I know she was a bright, beautiful girl who loved fiercely and will be missed.
