Anna Marie Fussell Sanamo (Singie), age 55, a native and resident of Baton Rouge, passed away on October 10, 2017. She had bravely battled cancer for several months, and was surrounded by family at her hour of passing.
Anna is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Phil Sanamo; her brother Michael Fussell Jr. and sister-in-law Jessica Fussell and their three children; her sister Jamie Monlezun and brother-in-law Roger Monlezun and their five children; her mother, Anna Bourdier Fussell; her adoptive father Michael Fussell. Anna also leaves her loving in-laws Joyce and Irwin Bouvier, and their beautiful family; the family of her birth dad, J. William Jewell and his wife Patricia. Other surviving family include Uncle Billy and Aunt Beverly Bourdier, Aunts Judy Martin and Leslie Jewell, and numerous other loving aunts, uncles, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Shawn and William Jewell, by maternal grandparents Ann and Willard Bourdier; by her paternal grandparents Michael and Norma Fussell, and Milton and Gertrude Jewell.
A graduate of Live Oak High School, Anna received her degree from LSU, and worked in finance throughout her career. She was a former employee of the Department of Revenue both in Louisiana and for the state of New Jersey. Thereafter, she entered private industry as a tax specialist liaison for software development with Astea Company, where she was employed for several years.
A favorite pastime was fishing with her husband and mother-in-law. Anna enjoyed attending the BR Symphony with her husband, and the many events they shared at the Shaw Center for the Arts. Anna loved LSU and will be forever a Tiger Fan.
A private cremation will be held at Resthaven Gardens of Memory. A memorial to celebrate Anna’s life will be conducted at the Orangerie located in the Burden Botanical Garden on Essen Lane. Friends and family are invited to participate on November 7th at 10:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
The family of Anna Sanamo wishes to extend sincere thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff of both Our Lady of the Lake Hospital and to those of Promise Hospital. All were so kind and attentive, and the tender care provided is appreciated.
