A registered nurse and a resident of Shreveport, she died Thursday, July 22, 2010, in Shreveport. She was 29. Visiting at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway, Sunday, July 25, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Visiting resumes at the funeral home Monday, July 26, from 8 a.m. until religious service at 10 a.m. Survived by her parents, Effie Scallan Leonard and Charles Ray Leonard; brother, Kevin Charles Leonard; aunts, Melissa Scallan, Wanda Scallan and Faye Sumerel Sweeney; uncle, James Leonard; and numerous relatives and friends. Preceded in death by her grandparents, Bill and Inez Leonard, and Noland and Betty Scallan; an aunt, Flo Lemoine; and a cousin, Noland Lemoine. She was certified in critical care nursing and had been accepted at Texas Wesleyan University in the Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist Program. She was to begin classes in August. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Humane Society.
