A loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, Daniel Dan Chase was granted his angel wings on Wednesday, June 1, 2011 at Our Lady of the Lake hospital. He was 76 and a resident of Baton Rouge. He was born on June 26, 1935 in Natchez, MS to Ben and Audrey Chase. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Lilly Waltman Chase who he married January 6, 1956 at First United Methodist Church in Natchitoches, LA. Survivors include his two daughters, Martha Chase Bryant and spouse Kevin Lisa Chase Potter and spouse Gary grandchildren, Jason and Jeremy Blakeney Jake Causey and wife Christon Josh Causey and wife Melinda and Jared Causey great grandchildren, Jade Blakeney Emmie Cooper Trent, Jaycee, and Brant Causey siblings, Martha Chase Moss Edgar Poop Chase sisterinlaw, Louise Cooley and brotherinlaw, William Waltman and wife Faye and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother Ben Buck Chase. Dan attended and graduated from Waterproof High School in 1953. He continued his education at Northwestern State University where he received significant recognition through the years including and Honorary Doctorate of Humanities, Long Purple Line, PHD Persons of Highest Distinction, Golden Jubilee Alumnus of 50 Yrs, ROTC Hall of Fame and Daughters of American Revolution Metal of Honor. Over the course of his career, he enjoyed being a head football coach and teacher at Vidalia High School and a coach and teacher at Prescott Junior High School. He was also the founder of Dan Chase Taxidermy Supply and enjoyed success as an entrepreneur by pioneering the mass production of polyurethane mannequins for taxidermy uses. Dan enjoyed deer hunting, Northwestern football and athletics, and most of all spending time with his family. He took great pride in being an active sponsor for Alcoholics Anonymous through which he was able to have a positive effect on countless lives. He also served on the Northwestern State University Foundation Board. He will be greatly missed by all who loved him. Visitation will be at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway, on Friday, June 3rd from 5pm until 9pm and will resume at the funeral home on Saturday, June 4th from 9am until service at 10am. Interment will be Resthaven Gardens of Memory Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hope Center in Marksville, LA and Natchez Childrens Home in Natchez, LA.
