Alfred Chambers Pickett, III

It is with deep sorrow that we share the news of the passing of Alfred Chambers Pickett III, our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He passed away peacefully on June 2, 2025, at the age of 76, after a brief illness.

Alfred was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred Chambers Pickett Jr. and Malvina Becnel Pickett, and his daughter, Claire Lynn Pickett.

He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Patsy D. Pickett; his son Andrew Pickett and his wife Kristin; his daughter Jennifer Girod and her husband Keith; his brother Chris Pickett; his brother Mike Pickett; and his cherished grandchildren, Addison, Jackson, and Olivia Pickett.

Born in Baton Rouge, Alfred's family later moved to Basking Ridge, NJ, where he completed high school. He returned to Baton Rouge to attend Louisiana State University, a member of the first graduating class with a degree in Construction Management. His career began with an internship at Buquet & Leblanc General Contractors, where his dedication and expertise made him a respected figure in the construction industry for over three decades.

While Alfred was a successful businessman, his true passion lay in his love for the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. His enthusiasm for these pursuits was infectious, creating countless stories and cherished memories for those around him. Above all, Alfred found immense joy in his role as a grandfather. The love he shared with his grandchildren was a source of great pride and happiness in his later years.

We invite relatives and friends to join us in celebrating Alfred's life on Friday, June 6, 2025, at Resthaven Gardens of Memory & Funeral Home, located at 11817 Jefferson Hwy, Baton Rouge, LA 70816. Visitation will begin at 1:30 PM, followed by a memorial service at 3:30 PM, with a reception to follow.

In lieu of flowers or donations, Alfred's wish was simple: "Take an old friend to lunch."
