Angela Scot Hixon, 57, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, with her family by her side.
Scot is survived by her husband, Dr. Rufus Lester “Les” Hixon, III; three daughters, Katherine “Kate” Elaine Hixon Savoy (Tyler), Caroline Hixon Leggio (Brandon), and Anna Scot Hixon (Aaron); four grandchildren, Tyler Joseph “TJ” Savoy, Elaine Scot Leggio, Beau Ray Daniels, and Scottie Evelyn Daniels; mother, Martha Hickman Ostendorff of Augusta, Georgia; father, David Alan Ostendorff, Sr. (Judy) of Greenville, South Carolina; brother, David Alan Ostendorff, Jr. (Stacy); nephew, Dylan, and niece Elizabeth of Augusta, Georgia.
Scot was born on February 2, 1969, in Augusta, Georgia. Growing up, she loved playing soccer and ended her competitive career as the only female selected for the boys' high school varsity team. As a young woman throughout high school and college, she was involved in multiple Christian organizations like Young Life, Bible studies, and the Campaigners. Scot graduated cum laude from the University of Georgia with a Bachelor of Science in Education and a Master of Education. She began her career teaching third grade in Augusta for several years. She retired to become a mother and wife, a role she excelled at until her passing.
Scot and Les moved to Baton Rouge in 1997. Throughout her years in Louisiana, she faithfully attended St. Paul’s Anglican Church and was involved in numerous community organizations (Junior League; fundraising for St. James Episcopal School, Louisiana Pediatric Cardiology Foundation (LPCF), Our Lady of the Lake Foundation; Parents’ Guild). Scot enjoyed hugging, playing with, and reading to her grandchildren; traveling with family and friends; spending time with her pets, especially Beignet; and having meals around the dinner table. She also enjoyed finding and trying new restaurants with friends, solitary pursuits like puzzles and reading, and playing tennis with her team. She was known for her keen mind, sense of humor, and caring heart. Above all, Scot loved Jesus and her family.
Visiting hours will be held at Resthaven Funeral Home on Saturday, May 9, 2026, from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. All are welcome to attend services at 3:00 pm and the burial following.
