Angelita Minerva Guzman

April 13, 1973 — May 27, 2026

Angelita “Angie” Minerva Guzman, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, mentor, teacher, and friend, passed away on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, at the age of 53.

Born on April 13, 1973, in Houston, Texas, to Antonio and Minerva Lara, Angie lived a life overflowing with love, generosity, creativity, and service to others. She had a rare gift for making people feel seen, valued, and deeply loved. Whether you knew her for a lifetime or only a moment, you left her presence feeling better than when you arrived.

As a teenager, Angie met the love of her life, Luis, on New Year’s Eve. Together they built a beautiful life and shared 32 years of marriage, raising a family rooted in love, laughter, and unwavering support.

A proud military spouse for 22 years, Angie embraced every adventure life brought her way. Among all the places she called home, Okinawa, Japan held a special place in her heart. There she found some of her greatest happiness—surrounded by the ocean she loved, incredible food, cherished friendships, and unforgettable memories. She especially loved spending time at the beach near American Village, where the water brought her peace and joy. She also treasured the years her family spent in Oceanside, California, and held a deep connection to a special tree overlooking the shoreline at Carlsbad Beach, a place that remained close to her heart.

Angie’s passion for teaching led to one of her proudest accomplishments: opening and operating Just for Me Preschool in Japan. She poured her heart into every child who entered her classroom, helping them develop confidence, curiosity, and a love for learning. Her students entered grade school reading and writing with confidence, a reflection of her dedication, patience, and belief in every child’s potential. Teaching was not simply something she did—it was who she was.

That same nurturing spirit followed her throughout her life. During her time at Camp Pendleton Youth and Teen Center, countless children sought her guidance, comfort, and wisdom. Many lovingly called her “Mom” because that is exactly what she became to them—a trusted source of encouragement, strength, and unconditional support. She had an open-door policy for anyone in need, and countless people found direction and hope through her advice.

Angie devoted countless hours to volunteering and serving her community. She never hesitated to step forward when help was needed. Whether through church, youth organizations, sports programs, or simply helping a friend, she gave selflessly and wholeheartedly. Her kindness reached far beyond her family, touching lives in ways many people may never fully know.

She was exceptionally intelligent and took immense pride in everything she did. If Angie accepted a task, she not only completed it—she exceeded every expectation. She approached life with determination, excellence, and an attention to detail that inspired those around her.

Angie was also incredibly creative. She could make, build, sew, decorate, or craft nearly anything she imagined. Creating brought her joy, but giving those creations away brought her even greater happiness. Her talents filled homes, celebrations, and lives with beauty.

She loved capturing memories and was rarely without a camera or phone in hand. Family members often found themselves stopping for “just one more picture,” but those photographs now stand as priceless gifts—preserving the moments she never wanted anyone to forget.

Those who knew Angie will forever remember her infectious laugh. Once she started laughing, everyone around her couldn’t help but laugh too. And when she danced, she seemed to glow. She danced freely, joyfully, and without reservation. In those moments, her happiness was contagious and unforgettable.

Above all else, Angie cherished her family. Nothing brought her greater joy than being Me-Maw, Gigi, and Gamma to her beloved grandchildren. They were the center of her world, and each of them knew beyond any doubt how deeply they were loved. Her happiest moments were spent creating memories with them, celebrating their accomplishments, and simply being present in their lives.

If there is one phrase that captures Angie’s heart, it is the phrase she shared so freely with everyone she loved: “I love you.” She never missed an opportunity to say it, and she made sure the people in her life never questioned how much they meant to her.

Angie leaves behind a legacy of compassion, wisdom, generosity, and unconditional love. She guided countless lost souls, lifted up those who needed strength, and reminded people of their worth. Though her family is heartbroken by her passing, they find comfort in knowing that her love continues to live on in every person she touched.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Antonio and Minerva Lara, and her father-in-law, Luis Guzman Sr. Her sister in-law, Iren Rios, and her niece, Angela Navarro.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 32 years, Luis Guzman Jr.; daughters, Klorissa and husband Jonathan Alcala, Nicholette and husband Quinn Macheska Jr., and Biannca and husband Cameron Crefasi; sisters, Margarita, Rebecca, Inez, Andrea, and Annie; brother, Joe; and her cherished grandchildren, Kash, Leonidas, Kruz, Isabella, Xander, Rome, Ariyal, and Vera.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the many family members and friends whose love, support, and prayers have provided comfort during this difficult time.

While words can never fully capture the beauty of Angie’s life, those who knew her will remember a woman who loved fiercely, laughed wholeheartedly, gave endlessly, and left every person she met a little better than she found them. Her memory will forever live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know and love her.
