On May 15, 2025, at 12:13 a.m., Annette Bonfanti Rapier unexpectedly passed away at Baton Rouge General-Bluebonnet and entered her Heavenly Home at the age of 78. She was born on January 5, 1947, and was the only child to Joe J. and Josephine Cascio Bonfanti. She was a 1965 graduate of Baton Rouge High School and earned her Bachelors and Masters+30 degrees in Education from Louisiana State University. She was a longtime 4th grade teacher at Bernard Terrace Elementary until her retirement in 1998. She then became her mother’s caretaker until her death in 2006. She later became a retail associate at Coldwater Creek. She had many roles in life: wife, mother, grandmother, teacher, and mentor. She was an avid nature photographer, and enjoyed volunteering at The Pregnancy Crisis Center. A devout Catholic, she was baptized, made her First Communion, her Confirmation, and was married at St. Agnes Catholic Church. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Terry Rapier; her children, Timothy Rapier-Fernandez (Chad), Terri Anne Chiasson (Ryan), and Melissa Rapier (Lydia Blanchard). She was a proud Mimi to Thomas Joseph, Kaden Warren, Paisley Grace, and Saige Ryann Chiasson. She is also survived by numerous cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents. Visitation will be at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 749 East Boulevard, Baton Rouge, La., on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 p.m. Pallbearers will be Chad Fernandez, Ryan Chiasson, Thomas Chiasson, Kaden Chiasson, Joseph L. Bonfanti, Jr,. and Lewis A. Bonfanti. Private burial in her parents’ mausoleum crypt at Greenoaks Memorial Park will take place at a later date.
