Annie Mae Day Dier

May 10, 1931 — December 20, 2025

Annie Mae Day Dier, our precious mother, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 20, 2025, at the age of 94. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving children.

Annie Mae was born on May 10, 1931, in Crosby, Mississippi to the late Bernard W. Day, Sr. and Leona T. Day. At an early age, her family moved to Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where she graduated from Istrouma High School in 1948. While working at the Louisiana State Library, she attended Louisiana State University.

Annie Mae was a charter member and the first secretary at Winbourne Avenue Baptist Church. It was there, that she met and married the love of her life, Jesse Dier, on October 6, 1950. Together, they built a life centered on faith, family, and service in Central, Louisiana. They were longtime members of Zoar Baptist Church.

She is survived by her son, Tim Dier of Geismar, Louisiana; her daughters, Jeanne Dier-Eckert (Ralph) of Erie, Pennsylvania, and Patti Oufnac (Steve) of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; her grandsons, Garrett Dier of Geismar, Louisiana, Bradley Dier (Shannon) of Angleton, Texas, and Reid Eckert (Theresa) of Erie, Pennsylvania; and great-grandsons, Trey, Mayson, and Cameron.

She is further survived by her brothers, James Day of Bueche, Louisiana, Leon Day (Sylvia) of Bueche, Louisiana, and Leo Day (Lana) of Ventress, Louisiana.

Annie Mae was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jesse Dier; her grandson, Trey Dier; her brother, Bernard W. Day, Jr.; and her parents, Bernard W. Day, Sr. and Leona T. Day.

Her life was a testament of faith, love, and devotion to her family. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Service at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, December 26, 2025, at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway in Baton Rouge. A Visitation will be held at the funeral home beginning at 12:30 p.m. Interment will follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory. 

The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to The Hospice of Baton Rouge and Landmark South Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Louisiana Baptist Children's Home and Family Ministries or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
