Arthur Calvin Golden, Jr., a lifelong resident of Baton Rouge, LA, passed away at his home on Saturday, October 12, 2024 at the age of 94. He served in the US Marine Corps during the Korean War, where he participated in battles of Pusan Perimeter, Inchon Landing, Capture of Seoul, and the Chosin Reservoir Campaign. He retired from DOTD in 1993 after 37 years of service. He was a 1947 graduate of Catholic High and attended LSU. He was a member of the Catholic High Men’s Club and Alumni Association, Choctaw Division of Marine Corps League, American Legion Nicholson Post #38, 1st Marine Brigade Association, Chosin Few, Inc., DAV, DOTD Golf Association, St. Aloysius Men’s Club, St. Aloysius Rosary Group, Retired Senior Volunteer Association, Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank, Cancer Services of Greater Baton Rouge, and St. Aloysius Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur C. Golden, Sr. and Cynthia Brown Golden; adopted father, Sidney G. Duhon.
He is survived by his loving wife of 72 years, Nellie “Nell” Ortego Golden; children Russell “Rusty” Golden and his wife Ruthie, and Cheryl “Cheri” Anne Golden; granddaughter, Ashley Lynn Golden Cain and her husband, James Daniel; great-grandsons, Graham Russell Cain and James Calvin Cain; 2 step-grand-daughters, Sarah Lomax Gray and her husband Paul and Emily Lomax Gonsoulin and husband Ben; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, 2025 Stuart Ave, Baton Rouge, LA 70808, on Thursday, October 17, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be held at Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Aloysius Church, Catholic High School, or your favorite charity of choice.
