Berdie Bordelon

Berdie Bordelon (née Couvillion) of Plaucheville and Baton Rouge, LA passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by loved ones on April 6, 2022.

Berdie is survived by her loving children; Jennifer Rabalais (Bob Teytaud), Ellen Rabalais Albarado, and Johnny Rabalais (Laura); grandchildren, Kelley Altazin, Katie Rabalais, and David Rabalais (Daniela); and sister Althea “Tina” Henderson. She is preceded in death by her husbands Lloyd J. Rabalais and Dan Bordelon, parents Anolia and Irby Couvillion, and brother Bevely Couvillion.

Berdie was born and raised in Plaucheville, LA and married her high school sweetheart, Lloyd Rabalais, in 1951. Together they had three children whom they raised in Baton Rouge.  Lloyd passed away in 1972. Berdie was remarried in 1975 to Dan Bordelon, together they built their dream home in Holden, LA where they lived until Dan’s death in 1985. Berdie then moved back to Baton Rouge where she worked at Hancock Fabrics until 2014. A gifted seamstress, Berdie loved weddings and used her spare time to sew wedding gowns and bridesmaid’s dresses, design and build flower bouquets and veils, and bake wedding cakes. She also loved gardening, especially roses and begonias. She enjoyed traveling to visit family around the country, particularly Sonoma County, CA and Hawaii. Above all else, Berdie treasured her family and friends.

Visitation will take place at Resthaven Funeral Home on Friday, April 8, 2022, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Visitation will continue on Saturday, April 9, 2022, beginning at 10:00 AM until services at 11:00 AM. Burial to follow at Resthaven Funeral Home.
