Berkley Rhorer Moore

November 21, 1941 — May 16, 2026

Berkley Ann Rhorer Moore, loving mother, sister, and friend, passed away on May 16, 2026, at the age of 84. She was born on November 21, 1941, in Plaquemine, Louisiana, daughter of the late James and Rosemary Rhorer. Berkley was a devout Catholic and a proud parishioner of St. George Catholic Church, where her faith was an integral part of her life. She cherished the joys of outdoor life, particularly hunting and fishing, activities that brought her great happiness and connection to nature.

Berkley Ann Rhorer Moore will always be remembered as a loving mother, gifted seamstress, and wonderfully creative soul whose kindness touched everyone who knew her. She had a remarkable talent for sewing and crafting, creating beautiful things with her hands and pouring love into everything she made. Whether through a thoughtful handmade gift, a carefully stitched piece, or simple moments spent with family and friends, Berkley made people feel cared for and special.

More than anything, Berkley was an incredible mother. Her love, strength, humor, and generous heart were the foundation of her family. She was admired not only for her talents, but for the warmth she brought into every room. She was truly loved by all who had the privilege of knowing her, and her memory will live on through the countless lives she touched.

Berkley is preceded in death by her husband, Anthony “Tony” Moore, Jr.; parents, James Berkley Rhorer and Rosemary Olivette Schlatre Rhorer; and brothers, James Edward Rhorer, Theodore Andrew Rhorer, and Richard Schlatre Rhorer.

She is survived by her children, Anna Babin-Neal (John Neal); and Thomas A. Babin; fur baby, Tiny; sister, Janie Rhorer Brandt (James Carl Brandt), brothers, William Frederick Rhorer (Sandra Brooks Rhorer), and Charles Brentt Rhorer (Carol Newman); sisters-in-law, Barbara Bardin Rhorer, Vickie Scallian Rhorer, and Susan Rhorer McMahon; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend their sincerest gratitude to the staff at St. James Place Wellness for their extraordinary care, and also the teams at Baton Rouge Rehab Hospital and Baton Rouge General Bluebonnet for their exceptional support. Special thanks are given to Dr. Henry Patrick and Dr. R. Todd Cooley, as well as the compassionate caregivers at Hospice of Baton Rouge.

We would like to invite all who knew and loved Berkley to join as we commemorate her life. A visitation will be held on Tuesday May 26, 2026 at St. George Catholic Church, 7808 St. George Dr., in Baton Rouge, from 9:00 AM, until Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM. Neal, James Rhed, Joseph “Joey” Poché, James Maryman, and Todd Jones; as well as honorary pallbearers William Rhorer, Brentt Rhorer, and James “Jim” Brandt.
