Betty Roberts

December 21, 1931 — November 4, 2022

Surrounded by her loving family, Betty June Roberts passed away peacefully in her home at the age of 90 on November 4, 2022. Born in December 1931 in Ashland, Kentucky, she spent the last 55 years of her life in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She is survived by a daughter, Suzanne Roberts of Baton Rouge and a son, Harry Gene Roberts, Jr. and Brenda of Baton Rouge. Also survived by three grandsons; Keith Andrew Roberts and Emily of Bend, Oregon; Alan Michael Roberts and Shelby of Prairieville, Louisiana; and Brant Mathew Roberts and Meghan of Sorrento, Louisiana. Betty also had three great grandchildren; Rylee June Roberts, Annabelle Rose Roberts and Brady Alan Roberts. She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Harry Gene Roberts, Sr., and by a son, Keith Alan Roberts. Betty was a collector of clocks, lighthouses and cactus plants. She particularly loved clocks with chimes and music, and never tired of listening to them from virtually every room in the house. Determined not to miss a note, each clock was set at a slightly different time, which meant that the first ten or so minutes of every hour the house rang non-stop with the sound of clocks! She had a large collection of small lighthouses from around the world, many of which lit up with the flick of a switch. And on those rare occasions when one or more of her cactus plants bloomed their large white blossoms (for one night only), she was as delighted as a child at Christmas. Betty was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Certainly to her children she was the best mother anyone ever had. She was also smart and beautiful, inside and out, with great charm and a smile and laugh that could light up a room. She could also be strongly independent, intractably stubborn and fiercely loyal and protective of her family. Betty was absolutely a woman of strong character and unshakable beliefs, and her family was very proud of her in every way. She was greatly loved and she will be greatly missed. A private ceremony for the family was held on November 9, 2022 at Resthaven Funeral Home.
