Bhagmania Ramnarine

February 14, 1928 — April 30, 2021

Bhagmania “Betty” Ramnarine, age 93, a resident of Baton Rouge, passed away on April 30, 2021.

Originally from Corinth  Road, San Fernando in the West Indian Country of Trinidad and Tobago. Married to Ramnarine Ramnath. She grew up during a time that females were not educated. She learned to read by attending adult literacy classes as a senior citizen. She was a laborer for 35 years until retirement. An avid gardener; she enjoyed traveling and spending time with her children and grandchildren, joyfully singing until the end.

Betty is survived by five (5) children, Kenneth Ramnarine and his wife, Maria Ramnarine, Gloria Ramnarine, Florie Balram, Molly Seegolam, and Errol Ramnarine.

She is also survived by thirteen (13) grandchildren, ten (10) great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, three (3) brothers, a sister, her youngest daughter Margret, and middle son Richard.

The service will take place at Resthaven on Jefferson Avenue in Baton Rouge on Tuesday, May 4, 2021 at 11 o’clock am, with the cremation to follow. Anyone that would like to participate via zoom can send a request to wendy.ramnarine@gmail.com.

In her later years, Ms. Ramnarine struggled with severe and progressive Alzheimer’s and dementia. Her daughter and caretaker, Gloria, would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to her family, friends and neighbors that have assisted during the trying and troubled years.

The Ramnarine family would also like to thank Dr. Bryan Hawthorne, Katrenda  Selders (long term, favorite home health aide and family friend), the entire PACE staff, Nurse Practitioners Stacy Perault and Jamie Gaudin Fowler, Nurses Felicia and Gina Miles.

In lieu of flowers please send donations to the Alzheimer’s Association or the American Heart Association. The family would also highlight the comfort and support provided by the Alzheimer’s Support Group.
