Billy Jean Pevey Lewis passed away on Tuesday, October 22, 2024, at the age of 94.
She was born September 5, 1930, in Piave, Mississippi to Frederick Pevey and Nettie Moye Pevey. She received her bachelor’s in education from University of Missouri at St. Louis, and after graduation started her career as an elementary school teacher.
Billy was a member of The Daughters of the American Revolution, founding member of both Norco First Baptist Church and Highland Presbyterian Church, and a former leader in the Woman’s Missionary Union.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her sisters Lucille, Nettie, Frankie and Mary; and her brothers Buddy, Joe and Cooper.
Billy is survived by her loving husband of 71 years, William H. Lewis; their daughter Susan McWilliams, and her spouse Steve; and their sons David Lewis, and his spouse Marilynn and John Lewis, and his spouse Sandra. She is also survived by their beloved grandchildren Sarah, John, Jim, LeEllen, Josh, Will and Alexandra, as well as their great-grandchildren, Maggie and Jack.
The family wishes to give special thanks to Shirley Drake her special caregiver.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Memorial Service at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 26, 2024, at Highland Presbyterian Church, 10024 Highland Road, with Reverend Jeff Day officiating. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 26, 2024, at Arcola-Roseland Cemetery, 63386 Hill Street in Roseland.
The family requests in lieu of flowers that donations be made to the Highland Presbyterian Church Benevolence Fund.
