Billy Ray White, Jr., a devoted husband and loving father, grandfather, son, and brother, passed away on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on March 18, 1962, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana to Billy Ray White, Sr. and Betty Dixon White. Billy was a 1981 graduate of Woodlawn High School and attended Nicholls State University. His career spanned more than 35 years with Valentine & LeBlanc, as their utility foreman. His professional success was evident in his hard work, tenure and lasting friendships that he made.
He was preceded in death by his father, Billy Ray White Sr. He is survived by his mother, Betty Dixon White; his wife and best friend of 41 years, Lisa Barranco White; their daughters: Nicole Stallings and her husband Dustin, Victoria Calk and her husband Bailey, Amanda Black and her husband Nicholas, Alexa Baker and her husband Benjamin, Wendy Guidry and her husband Scott and Misty Hardy and her husband Douglas; he was “Paw-Paw” to their beloved grandchildren: Dawson Stallings, Bella Calk, Violet Calk, Matthew Calk and Lyla Black; and his faithful ‘fur-buddy’, Mavrick. He is also survived by his sisters Amber Powell, Deanna Moore, Julie Warbington and Ruby Kuler; and his brothers Johnny Stokes, Dean Andrews and James “Aaron” Henson; as well as many other family and countless friends.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to all who have offered love, support, prayers, and kind words during this difficult time. Your visits, calls, meals and comforting gestures have brought us peace and strength. A special thank you to Greenwell Springs Baptist Church, Dr. LaVie, Mary Bird Perkins Medical Staff, Baton Rouge General Medical Staff, and especially Olivia Vargas, the Edmonds and Barranco families, and Valentine & LeBlanc and Lavigne Oil Company for their unwavering support.
To say that Billy was an avid LSU fan was putting it mildly, rarely missing a game. He enjoyed driving his Ford truck, fishing with his buds and cooking for the masses – for those that found his sweet tea refreshing, his secret ingredient was stirring it with his finger! Billy’s personality was such that he never met a stranger. His compassion was evident in all that he did; he loved being needed and always put others first. But all these things were no comparison to the love and commitment that he had to his ‘girls’, Lisa and their six daughters. Becoming a husband and father is what Billy excelled at more than anything else in this world. They were always his first priority, whether he was their personal handyman, dancing with them to a favorite song, or making holidays memorable for years to come, “Dad”, as he was affectionately known by Lisa and the girls, was the foundation of the family. We will forever cherish the countless memories, how he never missed a game, dance competition or recital, and how he always made us feel loved. He was blessed to have been able to walk all six of their daughters down the aisle, the last in October, knowing they have married men who will love and support them as he did.
