Brandie Lynn Chustz

Sep 19, 1974 — Sep 16, 2026

Baton Rouge, Louisiana

Brandie Lynn Chustz passed away on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, surrounded by her family and friends. She was 51 years old. Brandie was born on September 19, 1974, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana to Anthony Larry Chustz and Sandra Vavasseur Chustz. Upon graduation from Robert E. Lee High School, she attended Southeastern Louisiana University. She furthered her studies at the Aveda Arts & Sciences Institute, where she became a licensed aesthetician.

Some people enter the room quietly; she brought the entire atmosphere with her. To know her was to know a true force of nature. As a young girl, Brandie’s mother bestowed the title of ‘wild child’ on her and to this day she never lost her yearn for adventure or her unique spirit. Larger than life in every sense, she possessed a wicked razor-sharp sense of humor and a laugh so infectious it would have the whole room giggling with her.

Brandie was, quite simply, excellent at everything she did. She enjoyed crafts, painting and even dabbled in making jewelry at one time. Her creativity was evident to all in her custom door wreaths and everyone looked forward to the holidays, as Brandie spent hours decorating for the season. Her happiest moments were spent anchored by the three things she loved the most: good company, the water, and her ‘Super Bowl”, also known as the Spanish Town Ball and Parade. She was a longtime member of the Krewe Da Gruv. Mardi Gras was her season to shine, and we will forever cherish the memories made over the years. Brandie was faithful and loyal, valuing connections and friendships, many of which were established in elementary school and are still going strong today. Whether sitting on the beach or spending endless summer days by the pool surrounded by her favorite people, the water was where her soul was most at ease.

She had a successful career spanning more than 30 years as an eye technician, having worked at Eye Medical, the Williamson Eye Center and the LSU/OLOL Eye Clinic. The dedication she had to her job was noticed by colleagues and patients alike.

She was preceded in death by her father; her paternal grandparents, Charles and Eura Chustz; her maternal grandparents, Charles and Rilma Vavasseur; her uncles, John Robert Vavasseur and John Calvin Chustz; her aunts, Ronnie Chustz Fuselier and Loretta Cyriaque Chustz; and her beloved ‘fur-babies’, Peanut and Coonman.

Brandie is survived by her loving mother, Sandra; her devoted sisters, Lori Berry and husband Dan, and Toni Chustz; her nieces Jordan Jennings and husband Nick, and Kylie Edmonston and husband Austin; her great-nephews, Judah and Noah Jennings; her great-niece, Magnolia Edmonston, and a circle of friends that she considered her chosen family.
