Ms. Brenda Marie Anderson peacefully entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at the age of 76 years.
Brenda was born on November 18, 1948, to Georgiana Jasmin Anderson and Thornton Anderson, Sr. in New Orleans, Louisiana. She graduated from George Washington Carver Senior High School and worked in management in city government and the financial/banking industries within the New Orleans region. Brenda was a strong believer in Jesus Christ, studying his teachings in the bible, and sharing God’s word with her family, friends, neighbors, or strangers.
Brenda loved to listen to music, especially gospel music, and would sing songs that one of her cousins would jokingly say sounded like opera. She was stylish by wearing her turbans or wraps on her hair to add a bit of flair of fashion to her wardrobe. She enjoyed a good laugh, as she would joke with her grandson, nieces, and nephews. Brenda was strong-willed and did not compromise in her core beliefs and had a great memory for keeping the dates of birthdays or anniversaries of her family, friends, former classmates, and even celebrities she admired. She was a devoted caregiver to her daughter Chezel, and she never left her side.
Brenda joins in heaven her daughter, Chezel Anderson-Slack; grandson, Leo Sterling Slack, Jr.; son-in-law, Leo Sterling Slack, Sr.; parents, Georgiana Jasmin Anderson and Thornton Anderson, Sr.; and sister, Barbara Anderson Pattman.
Brenda leaves behind to cherish her loving memories her daughter, Icelynn M. Lackings of The Woodlands, TX; grandson, Jamal D. Lackings; great-granddaughter, Jade D. Lackings both of Fort Worth, TX; brothers, Thornton Anderson, Jr.(Ann) of Algiers, LA and Preston Poche, Jr. (Debra) of Edgard, LA; godson, Abraham McFarland II of Bethesda, MD; nieces, Dana Bobie of Edgard, LA, Janifer Noble of Castro Valley, CA, and Tameka Anderson of Algiers, LA; nephews, Abraham McFarland II of Bethesda, MD, Thornton Anderson III of Harvey, LA, and Preston Poche III of Edgard, LA; two great-nieces; three great-nephews; and a host of cousins and friends.
