Brent Michael Dupuy passed away on Friday, December 26, 2025, with his loving family by his side. He was 77 years old. His battle with Parkinson's was courageously fought for more than six years, leading to his passing from complications of the disease. Brent was born October 7, 1948, in Marksville, Louisiana to Merlin Dupuy and Lolita Mayeaux Dupuy. While attending Marksville High School, he met his future wife, Sharon Marie Goudeau - theirs was a storybook tale of friendship, love and unwavering commitment. He graduated in 1966, and joined the United States Army National Guard, and as with everything he did in his life, Brent gave it his all. He was proud to serve our country, remained steadfast in his patriotism, but he had a plan. Upon serving his tour, he returned to Marksville and proposed to Sharon; two months after her high school graduation, they married and began their life together in Baton Rouge.
Brent was successful in everything he did. He was truly a “jack of all trades.” He previously owned and operated Millerville Ace Hardware, as well as businesses in commercial real estate, remodeling and construction throughout the years. He took pride in a hard day’s work, a trait that defined his character, and one that he instilled in his three children. Brent was always present for his family and was known for his desire to help others. There wasn’t anything he couldn’t do or fix. His handyman skills were exemplified in repairing things at home, for his children, friends, and even for people he'd never met who needed help, as he did in the aftermath of the 2016 flood. His life was a testament to the value of hard work and perseverance. Brent believed that anything worth doing was worth doing well. He has left us with a legacy of diligence, as he poured his heart and soul into everything he touched.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, David Dupuy. Brent is survived by his devoted wife of more than 57 years, Sharon Marie Dupuy; their loving children Tamara Dupuy Arnold and husband Jeff, Tyra Dupuy and Todd Dupuy; and his beloved grandchildren Dustin Vice and wife Lauren, Dillon Vice and wife Sierra, Kharsyn Campagna, Khyli Campagna and Tyler Dupuy; and his great-grandchildren Marley Vice, Lawson Vice, Isla Vice and Ivey Vice; as well as numerous other family and countless friends.
The family would like to extend their love and gratitude to Landmark of Baton Rouge, Life Source Hospice, and all our family and friends who have provided us with compassion, support and prayers throughout this journey.
Although he worked hard, Brent played hard too! He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He and Sharon enjoyed their motorhome, traveling the country, sometimes for months at a time. They often said these vacations were one of the highlights of their lives. But above all of this, it was his family that brought Brent the most peace, joy and happiness. While there will never have been enough time to spend with him, we will forever cherish the many memories made, laughter shared and love he had for us all. Brent was known for always greeting people with a firm handshake and a big smile, even up to a few days before his passing.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Service at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, at Most Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 15615 Jefferson Highway in Baton Rouge. A Visitation will be held at the church beginning at 10:00 a.m. Burial Services will follow in the Chapel of Eternal Faith at Resthaven Gardens of Memory. A reception will follow in the Legacy Room at Resthaven Funeral Home.
Honoring Brent as pallbearers will be Todd Dupuy, Jeffery Arnold, Caleb Babineau, Walt Braud, Dillon Vice and Dustin Vice.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers and for those so desiring, memorials in honor of Brent Michael Dupuy be made to the American Parkinson Disease Association (Make A Gift - American Parkinson Disease Association), Mass intentions at the church of your choice, or to plant a tree in his memory.
