Brett A. Lirette A native of Houma, LA and resident of Prairieville, LA, Brett A. Lirette passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, at the age of 61.

To say Brett was loved is a dramatic understatement. He was magnetic. You didn’t just meet Brett, you remembered him. You laughed with him. You trusted him. You felt better just being near him. The deep, authentic connections he built with family, friends, coworkers, and even acquaintances weren’t just abundant; they were lasting.

Brett proudly served in the U.S. Air Force, where he earned an associate’s degree while enlisted. After his service, he spent many years working as a mortgage loan originator and a well-respected, beloved manager in the mortgage industry. True to who he was, Brett didn’t just lead teams, he built a community of people. Even before his passing, people from years past reached out to say what an impact he had made on their lives, recalling moments of encouragement, integrity, and genuine care that stayed with them long after they worked together.

Above all else, Brett’s faith in Jesus Christ was the foundation of his life. His trust in God's grace guided him, strengthened him, and filled him with peace, even in the hardest seasons. He was an active part of the Businessmen’s Bible Study at Healing Place Church, where he grew in faith and friendship.

Brett was also a proud and enthusiastic member of the Baton Rouge Ancient Athlete Society (BRAAS), where camaraderie came easy and friendships ran deep. He lived for the joy of being with people, and there was no such thing as a stranger in his orbit.

Brett had an interest in music and history, but sports were his true passion. He was a huge sports fanatic who loved to debate, analyze, and cheer on his favorite local teams - LSU, the Saints, and the Pelicans. And with his daughter Cadie Beth heading to Southeastern on a beach volleyball scholarship, he was already proudly claiming his spot as their future #1 fan.

He loved playing sports too, especially golf in recent years, but his real talent was in bringing people together, creating memories, and making everyone feel like family. He was a natural leader, the oldest sibling, and the steady voice in any room.

Brett was preceded in death by his precious daughter, Kristi Lirette; his parents, Samuel and Brenda Marie Lirette; and his brother, Jody Lirette.

Left to carry his memory forward are his wife of 12 years, Krissy Dugas Lirette; his daughters, Adrionne Kusy and Cadie Beth Kusy; his sons, Phillip Lirette (Brooke) and Brooks Kusy; and his cherished grandson, Noah Oakes Lirette. He is also survived by his sister, Bridgette Lirette Forstall (Trey); his goddaughter and niece, Isabelle Forstall; and his nephew, Brody Forstall; and his brother, Seve Lirette; and his nephew Colton Lirette.

A visitation will be held at Resthaven Funeral Home on Friday, July 25, 2025, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., and will continue on Saturday, July 26, from 1:00 p.m. until the funeral service at 2:30 p.m.

The family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to the many, many friends, near and far, who surrounded Brett and our family with love, visits, support, and powerful prayer.

Brett’s legacy is one of laughter, loyalty, faith, and fierce love. To be loved by Brett was to be loved well, and that love lives on in all of us.
