Brooks Franklin, Jr.

Brooks G. Franklin, Jr. “B.G.”, age 87, a resident of Baton Rouge, LA, passed away on February 11, 2023. He was born on June 24, 1935, and grew up in Tulsa, OK, graduating from Tulsa Central High School in 1953. In 1957, he received his bachelor's degree from the University of Tulsa and went on to also earn his Juris Doctorate degree. On August 31, 1956, Brooks married the love of his life, Kay, and their union was blessed with two children, Brooks G. Franklin III and Bryan K. Franklin. Prior to his retirement, Brooks worked as the Human Resources Director at an Agrico Chemical Company in Donaldsonville, LA.

In his free time, Brooks enjoyed golfing and camping in his RV. Brooks and Kay also loved to travel together either in their RV or with their church elder hostel group. Some of their more memorable trips included Alaska, Canada, California wine country, the Gulf South, and Europe. After moving to Baton Rouge, Brooks and Kay joined the Broadmoor Methodist Church community where they have been members for 50 years. Brooks participated in the Broadmoor Methodist adult Sunday School, he was a member of the Oklahoma State Bar Association, and earlier in life, he was a member of the United States Jr. Chamber (Jaycee) Organization.

Brooks was preceded in death by his parents, Opal and Brooks Franklin Sr.; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. He is survived by his wife, Kay Franklin; children, Brooks G. Franklin III (Maggie), and Bryan K. Franklin (Amy); sister, Patricia Bradshaw (Gary); 3 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren.

A visitation will be held from 5-8 PM on Tuesday, February 14, 2023, at Resthaven Funeral Home. Visitation will continue from 1-3 PM on Wednesday February 15, 2023, with the funeral service beginning at 3:00 PM at Resthaven Funeral Home.
