Carla Boudreaux

November 12, 1953 — March 4, 2022

Carla Marie Boudreaux , lovingly known as “Nanny Carla”, passed away at age 68, on Friday, March 4, 2022.

Carla was born and raised in Crowley, Louisiana, where she graduated from Notre Dame High School of Acadia Parish.  After attending LSU at Eunice, she moved to Baton Rouge in 1975 and made it her lifelong home.  After graduating as a “proud LSU Tiger” in 1980, she began her career as an insurance specialist with the Louisiana Department of Insurance from which she retired in 2012.

To know Carla, was to love Carla.  Her warm smile and her infectious laugh endeared her to all who had the privilege of knowing her.  She welcomed many people-all creeds and lifestyles-into her life and was a true champion of the underdog.

She was a doting sister, aunt and godmother who was affectionately known as the “pot lady”. She hosted Sunday lunch for family and friends for many years.  She often had baked treats ready for anyone who might happen to stop in.

Carla is survived by siblings Gwendolyn A.  Boudreaux, Michael G. Boudreaux, Richard B. Boudreaux (Madelene), Carol L. Boudreaux, and Christine B. Pousson.  She is survived by nephews Bryan G. Boudreaux (Kristin), Ben T.  Boudreaux (Erin), Ross W. Boudreaux, and Bailey C. Boudreaux.  Nieces include Blanche B. Boudreaux (Matt), Blair B. Thibodeaux (Glen), Malorie B. Meche (Tyler), Maddie C. Boudreaux (Josh), Haley B. Navarre (Dylan),  Layni B. Leger (Graham), Katie P. Olivier (Matthew), Anna Claire Pousson, and Caroline Pousson.  She is also survived by 15 great nieces and nephews as well as numerous  cousins.

Carla is preceded in death by her parents, George C.  and June Y. Boudreaux, paternal grandparents, George J. and Goldie Boudreaux, maternal grandparents, C.B. and Celina Young, brother, David W. “Rock” Boudreaux, and beloved godmother, Pam B. Mitchell.

Pallbearers will be Bryan Boudreaux, Ben Boudreaux, Clay Mitchell, Joey Jarreau, Marty Pousson, and Matthew Olivier.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 9, at Resthaven Gardens of Memory and Funeral Home on Jefferson Highway from 5:00 to 8:00 pm.   Visitation will be held again on Thursday, March 10, at St. George Catholic Church on Siegen Lane from 9:00 to 10:00 am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00.  Internment will take place at Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
