Carmen Grajales

August 21, 1935 — December 12, 2021

Carmen Margarita (Maggie) Grajales resident of Baton Rouge, Louisiana for the last 12 yrs went to be with the Lord on Sunday December 12, 2021, at the age of 86. She was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico on August 21, 1935, to Arcadio Grajales & Margarita (Perez) Grajales.

Carmen is survived by her daughter Sandra M. Guzman-Rodriguez & son-in-law Fermin E. Rodriguez, her grandchildren Erika S. Rodriguez Gotter and Nicholas Gotter, and Alex E. Rodriguez Guzman, her sister Minerva Grajales, her sister-in-law Neyda Grajales, her nieces and nephews Doris Fihman, Jose L. Martinez, Miguel & Maritza Elvira, Solarith & Damian Perdomo, Neyda & David Forestier, Roberto & Susan Martinez, Jose A. & Elizabeth Grajales, Alberto & Laura Grajales, and Maritza & Eddie Gonzalez, greatchildren and greatgrandchildren all who loved “Titi Maggie”.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved brothers Nelson Martinez Sr. (US Army veteran) and Jose A. Grajales Sr, her dear sister-in-law Doris (Candelario) Martinez, and adored nephew Nelson Martinez, and her former husband, Francisco A. Guzman.

Mrs. Carmen graduated from Colegio La Inmaculada in San Juan, PR where she was part of the Catholic Daughters. She enjoyed attending the alumnae reunions to reminisce good times, catch up with her school friends and the nuns. Attended EDP College and Universidad del Sagrado Corazon. She worked for 15 yrs as an accountant for Confederation of Canada Life Insurance, later joining the PR Government Employee Retirement System as a retirement loan specialist, from where she retired. She was a graceful and loving daughter who took care of her mom until her passing, and a brave and unconditional loving mother, sister, and aunt. She loved her family, friends, and coworkers dearly and was “always there” for anyone who needed her help.

Visiting hours will take place at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Hwy, Baton Rouge, LA 70816 on Sunday, December 19, 2021, from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm. Funeral Mass will take place at St. Jude the Apostle Church, 9150 Highland Road on Monday, December 20, 2021, at 10:00 am. Cremation and family prayer service Tuesday, December 21, 2021. Burial will be at St George Garden Mausoleum on Wednesday December 22, 2021 at 10:00 am.
