Carol Demoruelle Brou

Carol Demoruelle Brou passed away on Monday, November 24, 2025, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, at the age of 95. She was born on September 26, 1930, in Baton Rouge, to Joseph Leo Demoruelle Jr. and Grace Peltier Demoruelle.

Carol grew up in Baton Rouge, graduated from Baton Rouge High School and attended business college. Following her marriage, she and her husband relocated to Houma, Louisiana, where they worked, raised their family and she lived for the next 68 years.

Carol was a dedicated parishioner of St. Gregory Barbarigo Catholic Church in Houma, where she served in the parish Altar Society. She loved baking and cooking for friends and family, as well as gardening and antique shopping. Later in life, she found fulfillment in volunteer work, teaching English to immigrant students.

She is survived by her children, Margaret Brou Browning (Deane), Carolyn Marie Brou (Carlo), Thomas Gerald Brou (Tricia), and John Francis Brou; sister, Leola Demoruelle Ourso; grandchildren, Lesley Blackwood, Monica Blackwood, Jennifer Higgins, Kevin Blackwood, Brian Blackwood, Katherine Brou, Graham Brou, Patrick Brou, Zoe Cuneo and Bella Cuneo. In addition, she is survived by ten great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Carol was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Amedee Leo Brou Jr.; and her parents, Joseph Leo Demoruelle, Jr. and Grace Peltier Demoruelle.

A Mass will be held at Most Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 15615 Jefferson Highway in Baton Rouge on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. Inurnment will follow at St. George Catholic Church Cemetery.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the Garden View Memory Care staff who lovingly and patiently cared for their mother in her final years. Thanks also to the Gentiva Hospice care team who compassionately eased her passing.
