Carolyn Blessing

Carolyn Blessing passed away on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at the age of 79. She was born July 16, 1946, in Wilmington, Delaware to Harry William Deshay and Minnie Hawk Deshay. Carolyn graduated from William Penn High School in New Castle, Delaware. In 1980, she moved to Gonzales, Louisiana. She had a tenured and successful career with Arkel International as a Human Resource Manager, for over 46 years.

Carolyn is preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her sister Jacqueline Doran; cousin, Dan Weary of Pennsylvania; and her beloved cat, Squeak.

Carolyn will be remembered as a kind soul and a friend to all animals. In her youth, Carolyn was quite the accomplished equestrian, which deepened her love for animals. She dedicated much of her time to supporting animal organizations, and rescuing animals in need. 

In her spare time, Carolyn loved cuddling up with her cat Squeak while watching HBO movies. She could often be found at Red Lobster digging into her favorite cheesy biscuits and stuffed mushrooms.

Family and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Service at 2:30 PM on Friday, May 15, 2026, at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway in Baton Rouge. A Visitation will be held at the funeral home beginning at 1:30 PM.

In lieu of flowers and at the family’s request, please consider making memorials in honor of Carolyn Blessing to St. Jude Children’s Research.
