Carolyn “Tuppy” Rodriguez Jackson Chaney departed this life on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, at the age of 89. She was born on April 18, 1936, in Plaquemine, Louisiana and was a longtime resident of Baton Rouge. Carolyn was a direct descendent of settlers from the Canary Islands, known as “Islanos”, who settled at Valenzuela, located about 15 miles southeast of Donaldsonville. She was retired from Gulf Coast Region of Coca-Cola Bottlers United, Inc. in Baton Rouge, with 32 years of service as the Executive Administrator to the President.
She loved spending time with her family and friends, traveling and dancing. Some of her memberships and volunteer work included: the local Argentine Tango group, BREC Tea Dance Group, Entre Nous Dance Club, Canary Islanders Heritage Society of Louisiana, Canary Islanders DAR Chapter, Woman’s Club, Louisiana State Archives, Executive Women International, Professional Secretaries International (now the International Association of Administrative Professionals (IAAP), docent at LSU Rural Life Museum, Alzheimer’s Services of the Capital Area, and Senior Companion Program Advisory Board.
Carolyn is survived by her two daughters, Debra Jackson Gill and Lisa Jackson Lee; seven grandchildren Shannon Gill Landry and her husband Kurt, Rachel Gill Kojis and her husband Brandon, Amanda Lee Bailey and her husband Colley, Jessica Lee, Kevin Lee and his wife Taylor, Steven Lee, and Britany Webber Curren and her husband Austin; as well as twelve great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her son, Richard James Jackson; her parents, Emile Leon Rodriguez, Jr., and Helen Daigle Rodriguez Spragio; and her brother, Royal Joseph Rodriguez.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Service at 2:30 p.m. on Monday, November 24, 2025, at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway in Baton Rouge. A Visitation will be held at the funeral home beginning at 12:30 p.m. Interment will follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
Honoring Carolyn “Tuppy” Rodriguez Jackson Chaney as pallbearers will be: Kurt Landry, Dylan Kojis, Brandon Kojis, Kevin Lee, Steven Lee and Thatcher Lee.
