Cassandra Green

August 4, 1944 — June 5, 2021

Cassandra “Sandy” Gayle Miller Green, our beloved “Nanny” and our Steel Magnolia, went to be with our Heavenly Father on June 5, 2021 at 1:05 p.m.  She was 76 years old and a resident of Baton Rouge, Louisiana.  While the turn of events were very unexpected, we are so blessed that she was able to have all the loves of her life surrounding her and holding her hand as she took her last breath.

She was a graduate of Bossier High School in Bossier City, LA, and studied at the University of Central Arkansas. Her passion was her children and grandchildren. She always gave more than she took, sacrificing her own needs to make sure others had.  To know her, was to love her! She became an amazing cook under the guidance of her Mother-In-Law, Jennie Green.  She will always be thought of as a beautiful, kind, loving, selfless woman who was gentle but tough.  Always a compassionate woman, she opened her home and adopted multiple rescue dogs through the years, providing them a second chance at life and a home filled with love. She will be greatly missed.

Cassandra is survived by the father of her three children, Paul Green, Sr., her son, Paul Green, Jr., (Arnell LeBlanc), daughters, Sonya Green, all of Greenwell Springs, LA. and Cassandra Renee’ Green of Lansing, MI. Grandchildren are Brandon (Jaime) Ruh, Trevor (Elizabeth) Green, Brittany (Daniel) Zimmerman, and Allie Green. Great Grandchildren are Grant Ruh, Evan Ruh, Noella Green, Riston Zimmerman, Arden Zimmerman, and John Green.  She is also survived by her sisters Sue Morris, Beech Island, SC and Marsha Talbot, Powderly, TX. along with multiple nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Orville J. and Reba L. Miller, Shreveport, LA., Ray H. and Laura Belle Watts Simmons, Martinsville, VA. and sister, Brenda Douglas, Aiken, SC.

Visiting hours will take place at Resthaven Funeral Home in Baton Rouge, LA. on Friday, June 11, 2021 starting at 5:30 p.m. with a service at 7:00 p.m. with the visitation continuing till 9:00 p.m.   A second visitation will be held at Ashby Funeral Home in Benton, Arkansas, on Monday, June 14, 2021 from 10:00 am - 12:00 p.m., followed by a service with final burial at Lee Cemetery in Benton, Arkansas. A potluck lunch will be held afterwards at Crossroads Baptist Church in the Fellowship Hall. Pallbearers are Paul Green, Sr., Paul Green, Jr., Brandon Ruh, Daniel Zimmerman, Jason Green and Steve Green. Honorary Pallbearers are Grant Ruh and Evan Ruh.

Due to travel to final burial the family asks that in lieu of flowers please make donations to Lupus Foundation of America at  www.support.lupus.org or Cascades Humane Society, 1515 Carmen Dr, Jackson, MI 49202, in Cassandra Gayle Green’s name.
