Cecile "Chee Chee" Blanchard McComas, a resident of St. Francisville, Louisiana, passed away on August 25, 2026, at The Carpenter House in Baton Rouge, LA. A proud graduate of Redemptorist High School, Cecile lived a life defined by her love for family, hard work, and dedication to everyone she touched.
She was born August 18, 1937, in Baton Rouge, the eldest of five children of John M., Sr. and Cecile Armstrong Blanchard, Chee-Chee grew up in the area and married the love of her life, Billy McComas, in 1954. Together, they raised their family in East Baton Rouge before later moving to Butte LaRose. In 2008, Cecile moved to St. Francisville, where she spent the past 18 years building fond memories.
Throughout her professional life, Cecile was known for her exceptional diligence, sharp mind, and diverse talents. She spent many years working with Copolymer, but her true professional calling was as an Enrolled Agent (EA), bookkeeper, and tax preparer. Dedicated to her career and the clients she treated like family, she proudly kept her practice for decades until well into her mid-80s. She also found expression for her creativity through writing freelance short stories.
A woman of devout Catholic faith, she was a dedicated parishioner of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church. She found solace in praying her rosary. Chee Chee genuinely loved people. She proudly embraced her Cajun heritage and looked forward to lively games of Euchre with her friends. She was also a passionate fan of LSU sports, never missing a televised broadcast to cheer on her beloved Tigers.
She took pride in her children and was the most cherished, devoted "Granny" to her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her children, Randy (Renee) McComas of Greensburg and Sheryl (Michael) Ranatza of St. Francisville, her daughter-in-law Glenda McComas of Livingston, her brother Gilbert Blanchard (Marla); and her two dearest friends, Christina Courville and Louella Courville, both of Cecilia, whom she considered family.
Chee Chee's legacy lives on through her grandchildren: Brandy McComas Mulkey, Angel McComas Landry, Michael McComas, Christopher McComas, Brian Wilson, Jr., Dr. Holly Wilson, Kevin Wilson, Anthony Ranatza, and Mark Ranatza. She is also survived by 26 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents John Sr. and Cecile Blanchard; husband, Billy McComas; son Gary McComas; granddaughter, Lowry Carter; sisters Susan McDonald and Brenda Businelle; and her brother, John Blanchard, Jr.
Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate Cecile’s life on Monday, August 31, 2026, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 12424 Brogdon Lane, Baton Rouge, LA 70816. All will be welcomed at 10:00 AM until Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM. Burial to follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
