Charles Ernest Foss died peacefully on Monday, May 11, 2015. He was born on Sept. 7, 1928, in Pine Bluff, Arkansas & was the youngest son of George Rodney Foss & Linnie Shelton Foss.
Charles's family moved from Arkansas to Baton Rouge in 1935. His father was a pharmacist & drug company representative, his mother, a homemaker. Charles was a University High graduate &attended LSU. He served in the National Guard. He literally married the girl next door, Lorraine English. They had a daughter, Janelle, and a son, Bryan. Charles worked for Gulf States Utilities Co. as a commercial sales representative. Later, he became a branch manager for their Plank Rd. office. He retired after 35years. He also was a Reserve Police Officer with the Baton Rouge Police Dept. for 8 years. He was an avid photographer & loved nature & scenic photography. Two of his favorite travel destinations were the Smoky Mountains & the Grand Canyon where he amassed an impressive collection of photos, each one a postcard quality shot of impressive beauty. All who knew him enjoyed his sense of humor & his love of a good joke. He loved westerns for their portrayal of rugged individualism & their scenic beauty. John Wayne's movies were his favorites. He also loved his LSU Tigers & N.O. Saints. Charles lived 86 years. He will be missed by all who love him.
He leaves behind a wife of 62years, Lorraine English Foss, a daughter, Janelle Bello, a son, Charles Bryan Foss, a grand-son, Matthew Kenneth Bello, a daughter-in-law, Gay Weil and Foss, a son-in-law, Ray Wei-land & his wife, Celina, a sister-in-law, Yvonne Crawford &numerous nieces, nephews & cousins.
He is preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Lucille Foss Bordelon, a brother, Rodney Shelton Foss, who as an Ensign in the U.S. Navy, was killed in the attack on Pearl Harbor, a son-in-law, Kenneth Bello, & a brother-in-law, John Crawford.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed on Friday, May 15, 2015, at Resthaven Gardens of Memory Funeral Home, 11817Jefferson Highway, Baton Rouge, LA 70816, from 10:00AM until 12:00 PM.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, May 15, 2015, at Resthaven Gardens of Memory Funeral Home at 12:00 PM.
Interment will take place at Resthaven Gardens of Memory Cemetery.
