Claudia Karen Wheeler, born on December 19, 1949, in Texarkana, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 12, 2026. A devoted social worker, Karen dedicated her career to serving children through the Child Protective Services system, embodying compassion and unwavering commitment to those in need.
Karen earned her bachelor’s degree from Louisiana Tech University, which laid the foundation for a lifetime of impactful work and service. Beyond her professional endeavors, Karen was a passionate world traveler. She explored over 65 countries alongside her beloved husband and many cherished friends, seeking to understand and embrace the diverse cultures of the world. Her greatest joy, however, remained her grandchildren, who brought light and laughter into her life.
She is survived by her devoted spouse of 54 years, Robert Lynn Wheeler; her son, Benjamin Ross Wheeler and his wife, Erin; and her treasured grandchildren, Camille and Zach. Together, they carry forward her loving spirit and enduring legacy.
Karen was preceded in death by her parents, Roy Ludie Henry and Leta Gray Fuller; her uncle, Truitt Wilson “Bo” Fuller; and her grandparents, Ross and Charlcie Crawford.
The community will gather to honor Karen’s memory with a Memorial Service at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 27. 2026, at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway in Baton Rouge. A Memorial Visitation will be held at the funeral home beginning at 10:30 a.m. An inurnment will follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
Karen’s life was one of dedication, kindness, and boundless curiosity. Her legacy will be remembered with deep respect and gratitude by all whose lives she touched.
