Corazon N. "Cora" Perkins

Feb 14, 1955 — Jun 17, 2026

Baton Rouge, Louisiana

Corazon “Cora” Naungayan Perkins, born on February 14, 1955, in Kiamba, Philippines, ended her courageous battle against pancreatic cancer on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her loving family.

Preceding her in death were her oldest sister, Brenda; her father, Jose; her mother, Tomasa; her stepson, Jeffrey Perkins; and her youngest sister, Josefina Luce.

Cora is survived by her husband of 34 years, Michael Perkins; their children, Joshua (Ashley Hood Perkins) and Jessica (Michael Salzman); her stepdaughter, Julie Cantrell (Robert Bradford); her grandson, Otto; her two step-grandchildren, Emily and Adam; her oldest sister, Analita; her brothers Antonio, Melchor, Jesse, and Rodolfo; as well as many beloved cousins, nieces, and nephews around the world.

Cora was working as a midwife for ARAMCO in Saudi Arabia during the Gulf War when she met her husband, who was living there as an employee of Shell Chemical. They returned to Louisiana, where she became part of a happy, blended family and opened her home to countless friends and relatives through the years.

She was full of life, always happy, energetic, generous, and kind. Admired as a gifted gardener, a talented cook, and a welcoming hostess, her delicious meals fed many a soul through the years, and she enjoyed gathering people from all walks of life around her table.

Cora was also a fabulous dancer, and she especially enjoyed music from the band ABBA. She found great pleasure in decorating her home, and she was known for her impeccable sense of style. But her greatest joy was being a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt.

All who knew her, loved her, and she leaves a rich legacy of faith, family, and friendship in her wake. She lived every moment full of gratitude and grace, reminding us all to dance as if it’s our last chance, to savor every second, and to love all people along our path.
