Dale Elliot Denton passed away on April 18, 2023, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He was 42 years old. A lifelong resident of Baton Rouge, Dale was born on September 22, 1980, to his mother Johna Jones.
Dale was a loving and devoted father, teaching his girls his love of fishing and encompassing his favorite fishing places in their lives. He had a love of all sports - his favorite team was the LSU Tigers. From a young age and well into his adulthood his favorite words would always be Geaux Tigers! He was boisterous, loud and was never shy – especially in public!
At a young age, Dale was asked, ‘What would you choose money, fame or love?’ - Dale answered, ‘I would choose love because love is awesome, love is cool, and love can last a lifetime.’ For Dale that did come true.
Dale is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 18 years, Heather Y. Denton; his children Mollie (whom he lovingly called ‘Pal’) Denton and Presley (whom he lovingly called ‘Buddy’) Denton; his mother and stepfather Johna and Bruce Jones; his sister Michelle Priest; and numerous other family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Lucien and Ann Virgillio.
Addiction didn’t love Dale; it owned him. It skewed his reality and numbed his heart; it mocked his every attempt to be free. We hope you are ‘dancing in the sky’ with grandma and grandpa, their arms wide open and waiting for him. Dale is finally free, and for that reason alone we will all find comfort.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in honor of Dale may be made to The Akron House - Baton Rouge Sober Living, 323 Little John Drive, Baton Rouge, Louisiana 70815. Should you wish to send flowers to the family, please order directly through the funeral home website only.
Private services were held for the family at Resthaven Gardens of Memory. Family and friends may sign the online guestbook or leave a personal note to the family at www.resthavenbatonrouge.com.
