Darleen Johnson, age 58, a resident of Baton Rouge, passed away at 3 AM on Friday, May 20, 2016, peacefully at her home.
Darleen is survived by her son, Brandon Phillips and wife Amanda; daughter Sarah Johnson; sisters Diane Pizzalato and Denise Coffey; brother David Phillips and wife Karen; grand-daughters Kylie, Kaylin & Kinsey Phillips and Corbett Portwood; numerous nieces, nephews, and brother-in-law.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles "C.G." Johnson; parents Sulcer and Anna Phillips; sister Debbie Sibley, brothers-in-law Glenn Pizzalato, Ed Bartholomew and Tony Dorsa; sister-in-law Beverly Wascom.
Pallbearers will be Melvin, Jason & Micah Sibley; Nick & Andrew Pizzalato; Josh & Chad Rounds. Honorary pallbearers are the Baton Rouge Police Honor Guard.
The family would like to thank Dr. Eric Waguespack, Dr. William Hines, Dr. David Hanson and Dr. Frank Fossella, and their staffs at Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center and M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, as well as many friends and family for their unwavering support.
Darleen enjoyed spending time with her beloved family and friends, shopping, bowling and spoiling her grand-daughters, which loved her dearly. She had an infectious, beautiful smile that showed her personality off, a heart of gold and a love for life that was felt by everyone she knew. She was a loving wife, mother, sister and friend who will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Visitation will be held on Monday, May 23, 2016, at Resthaven Gardens of Memory and Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Visitation will resume on Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at 9:00 AM until services at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow in Resthaven Garden of Memory.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Cancer Services of Greater Baton Rouge.
