Darren Mathis

A Fabricated Steel employee and resident of Prairieville, he died Sunday, July 27, 2008, at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Gonzales. He was 41 and a native of Baton Rouge. Visiting at Resthaven Funeral Home chapel, 11817 Jefferson Highway, on Wednesday, July 30, from 9 a.m. until service at 11 a.m., conducted by Mark Stermer, pastor. Interment in Resthaven Gardens of Memory. Survived by his wife, Laurie Mathis; father and mother, Walter and Connie Mathis; daughter, Caitlin Aucoin; son, Eric Mathis-Dunn; two sisters, Rhonda Hartwell and husband Bill, and Tracy Mathis; two nieces, Ashley Gulino and husband Anthony, and Jennifer Miller and husband Jody Duncan; three nephews, Brian Hartwell, Dylan Hartwell and Joey Taylor; two great-nieces, Lexie Duncan and Kyleigh Duncan; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Oscar and Leola Mathis; maternal grandparents, Morgan and Irma Verbois; and an aunt, uncle and first cousin.
