Darryl T. Castleberry Sr. of Baton Rouge passed away at his home on September 15, 2012 surrounded by loved ones. He fought a two year courageous battle with cancer. He was 65 years old. He worked as a boiler maker of Local 582 for 47 years. As a longtime resident of Baton Rouge, he had many friends who loved and admired him. Darryl enjoyed working on cars, houses, and antique wooden boats. He was always active and outdoors and loved spending time with family and friends. Darryl is survived by his loved wife of 48 years, Janice Talbot Castleberry son, Darryl Castleberry II and his wife Wanda daughter, Gay Whitaker and her husband Ronnie Paul grandsons, Tyler and Payton Viator mother and stepfather, Dimple and Jim Welch and his brothers, Gordon and Dale Castleberry. He is preceded in death by his father, Cline Castleberry sister, Kay Castleberry brother, Douglas Castleberry and his beloved dog, Zachary. A memorial gathering will be held at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Hwy, on Monday, September 17, 2012 from 2 pm until memorial service at 4 pm. A special thanks extended to Dr. Bienvenu, Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center, and St. Josephs Hospice. Thank you to all of Darryls friends and family for their love and support during this time.
