David Joseph Troxclair passed away on Monday, May 18, 2026, at the age of 76. He was born August 27, 1949, in White Castle, Louisiana to Dunkin Joseph Troxclair and Rita Gertrude Rome Troxclair. After obtaining his bachelor’s degree in business from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, David entered the food industry and never looked back. As a perpetual foodie, Dave joined his sister’s family business as the manager of Frank’s Restaurant Grill & Bar for over 30 years.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife of 16 years Bonita “Bonnie” Troxclair; his sisters Brenda Martin and Marlene Hadden; his infant brother Charles Troxclair; and his brothers-in-law Donald Martin and Russell Euggino.
David is survived by his sisters Cynthia Euggino, Sidonia “Sid” Lovelace and husband Alan, and Catherine “Cathy” Dedman and husband Frank Dedman, Jr.; his brother Bruce Troxclair; his brother-in-law Stan Hadden and wife Pam; and his beloved nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews – who affectionately called him “Uncle Dave”, as well as countless other family and friends.
David enjoyed hunting and fishing, teaching most of his siblings how to bait a line. His family and friends especially enjoyed him partaking in the outdoors, as they reaped the benefits of his catch to kitchen. Dave recently traveled to Toledo Bend and only got to enjoy a boat ride on the water, as the ‘fish weren’t biting’. Whether at work or at home he could be found cooking, often making his famous jambalaya, smoked sausage or hogshead cheese. As you can imagine, this left many a conversation about food!
In his spare time, he enjoyed keeping tabs on his siblings - never missing an opportunity to tease them. Uncle Dave will forever be remembered as the family jokester! He never missed a puzzle in the morning paper and was an avid sports fan. In years past, he cherished trips with his wife to the Caribbean Islands, and trips to Canada to visit her birthplace.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Service at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 23, 2026, at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway in Baton Rouge. A Visitation will be held at the funeral home beginning at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
Honoring David as pallbearers are Frank Dedman III, Ross Dedman, Travis Euggino, Kevin Lovelace, Alfredo Figueroa and Todd Guerin.
