David Odell Wendt

Jun 16, 1948 — Sep 7, 2026

David Odell Wendt, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, son, and friend, passed away on Monday, September 7, 2026, at the age of 78. David was born on June 16, 1948. David held a Bachelors and Technical Certification, and worked as a Quality Control Manager at Fisher Controls. He was a member of the Coon Trap Rd. Bass Club, and St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.

In his free time, you could often find him outdoors. He loved fishing, golfing, camping and hiking. But his most treasured moments were spent with his family, cooking meals to share, and spending time with his grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, John Wendt, and Earline Fults; and his brother, Johnny Wendt.

David was survived by his beloved wife, Vita Digirolamo Wendt, who went to join David days after his passing, marking the end of a beautiful love story that spanned 57 years.

He is also survived by his sons, Jason Wendt (Meg Mahoney), Joshua Wendt (Lauren), and Justin Wendt; his grandchildren, Jack Fuselier, Luke Fuselier, Ella Wendt, Eden Wendt, Emma Willmes, and Sam Wendt; his brothers, Robert Wendt, Chuck Wendt, and Louis Wendt.

We would like to invite all who knew and loved David to join us as we commemorate his life. A visitation will be held at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Hwy., in Baton Rouge, on Friday, September 18, 2026, from 9:00 AM until funeral services at 11:00 AM.
