Donald Gerard Blanchard

Donald Gerard Blanchard passed away on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at the age of 75. He was born on November 29, 1949, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana to Herbert Theodore Blanchard and Genevieve Mary Daigle Blanchard. Donald was a graduate of Istrouma High School and began working with Ethel Corporation. His career spanned for more than 60 years, including an entrepreneurial venture into his passion for woodworking with cabinets and millwrights.  He worked for the Louisiana Secretary of State for the last 16 years as the voting machine mechanic in Ascension Parish, District 10. Donald truly enjoyed his position and was well respected by many in the industry.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his son, Trevor G. Blanchard; his sisters, Carolyn Blanchard and Catherine Blanchard; and his brothers, Robert T. Blanchard and Gary G. Blanchard.

Donald is survived by his devoted son, Lance Blanchard and his wife Dana; his sister-in-law, Linda Blanchard; three nephews; and many great-nieces and great-nephews. Donald is also survived by his long-time friend, Sandy Withers, as well as numerous other loving family and friends.

His family would like to thank Pinnacle Hospice and the Crossing at Clarity Hospice for their dedicated and compassionate care of Donald.

A private service for the family will be held at a future date.
