Donald Leon Cavin, passed away Tuesday, August 10, 2021, at the age of 81.
He was known by family and friends as Don, Donnie, or DC. Don graduated in the Class of 1958 from Istrouma Sr High School and attended LSU before deciding to serve his country in the United States Air Force for 4 years.
In 1973 he opened Cavin’s Auto Repair, a very successful Baton Rouge business. His passion for hunting, fishing, golfing, and spending time at Lake Mary and Lake Rosemound was shared throughout his life with family and friends. “DC” was a very generous and loving man and never thought twice about helping someone in need.
He is survived by his soulmate and loving wife, Donna McCoy Cavin; two sons, Todd Cavin and wife Shelley, and Darren Cavin and wife Ashley; stepson, Brad Breau and wife Tammy; six grandchildren, Chase Cavin and wife Amanda, Connor Cavin and fiancé Camille Miller, Sydney Cavin, Blaine Cavin, Madison Breau and Reagan Breau; three great-grandchildren, Isabella Cavin, Cruz Cavin, and Harper Cavin; brother Wayne Cavin; and his three dogs, ZsaZsa, Zoe, and Mia.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, Louis Sidney Cavin and Dorothy McQueen Cavin.
Pallbearers will be Chase Cavin, Connor Cavin, Blaine Cavin, Clint Cavin, Jeremy Boykin, and Jim McQueen. Honorary pallbearers will be Milton Ourso, Mike Holly, Brett Hughes, and Sammy Ulmer.
Visitation will be held on Friday August 13, 2021, at Resthaven Gardens of Memory & Funeral Home from 9:00am until service at 12:00pm conducted by Reverend Ted Wells. Interment will be at Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
