Doris Dixon Hodges, a woman whose kindness and generosity touched all who knew her, passed away peacefully surrounded by love. Born on April 14, 1941, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Doris was the third of six children born to Malcolm and Cora Dixon.
A lifelong resident of Baton Rouge, Doris was a charter member of Parkview Baptist Church and a proud graduate of Woodlawn High School. She continued her education at Baton Rouge VoTech, where she studied business, launching a successful career that began at Paul Boudreaux & Company. It was there that fate intervened, and she met the love of her life, Clyde Hodges. Their romance blossomed into a beautiful marriage that would span decades.
Together, Doris and Clyde built a wonderful life, making their home on Lakeshore Drive and becoming devoted members of First Baptist Church of Baton Rouge. Their love of the Gulf Coast led them to purchase a cherished beach house in Destin, Florida, which became a gathering place where they created countless memories with family and friends. Doris had a passion for travel and adventure, but her greatest joy was sharing these experiences with those she loved.
Known for her warm spirit and generous heart, Doris was a beloved wife, sister, aunt, and friend. Her door was always open, her smile ever-present, and her love unconditional.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents, Malcolm and Cora Dixon; her brother, Malcolm (Mac) Dixon Jr.; and her sister, Kathryn Dixon Smith. She is survived by her devoted husband, Clyde Hodges; her sisters, Elinor Heughan (Ronnie) and Betty Dixon White; her brother, John V. Dixon (Diane); and numerous nieces and nephews who will forever treasure her memory.
Visitation will take place at Resthaven Funeral Home on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, beginning at 10:00 AM until services at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow services at Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
