Dorothy "Nana" Dubnansky

Dorothy, affectionately known to so many as “Nana,” reunited with her beloved husband, Richard “Big Rich,” in Heaven on Tuesday, September 1, 2026.

Nana was one of those special people you simply didn’t forget. She had a big heart, a genuine kindness, and a way of making an impression everywhere she went. She was never a stranger and made friends wherever life took her, and it often seemed there wasn’t anyone who didn’t know Nana.

Born in Massachusetts, Dorothy was the younger sister of Ellen. After marrying Rich, her one and only love, Rich’s job started them on a migration south to warmer weather, which Dorothy happily welcomed.

Nana found joy going for walks, relaxing at the beach, and spending time with her friends at the dog park. But her greatest joy and favorite pastime was spending time with her grandchildren. Being a grandmother brought Nana immeasurable happiness, and there was nowhere she would rather be than surrounded by her children and grandchildren.

Dorothy was a devoted mother and grandmother and a proud “boy-mom” to her four sons and her two boy dogs. Her family was the center of her world, and she dedicated her life to loving, supporting, and caring for them.

She is survived by her sons, Richard (Missi), Greg (Karen), Tim (Lauren) and James (Alyssa); her sister Ellen Finley; nine grandchildren, Trey, Griffin, Myles, Davis, Addie, Henry, Grace, and Maddie; and her nieces Megan, MacKenzie, Molly (Dustin).

Nana will be remembered for her enormous heart, kindness, her devotion to her family, her unforgettable personality, and the unconditional love she gave so freely. She leaves behind countless memories, stories that will continue to be told, and a family that is better because of the love she poured into it. While she will be deeply missed, there is comfort in knowing that she is once again beside her one and only Big Rich.

To honor Nana, services will be held on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, at St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church. Visitation will begin at 10:30am, followed by a funeral mass starting at 11:30am.

In lieu of flowers, Nana would have wanted everyone to donate to Friends of the Animals Baton Rouge, an organization she was passionate about.
