Edison Campanella

February 14, 1954 — February 14, 2023

Edison Anthony Campanella, a lifelong resident of Baton Rouge, went home to our Savior, Jesus Christ, on February 14, 2023 (2 – Valentines), his 69th birthday.

Edison was a teacher at McKinley High School for 21 years, touching many lives along the way. He was an amazing husband, father, grandfather, son, and brother. To know him was to love him.

Edison is survived by his wife of over 41 years, Nancy Lutz Campanella; sons Matthew Campanella and wife Lauren, and Michael Campanella and wife Brittany; his mother, Inez Campanella; his sister, Lisa Campanella McCollister and husband David, and his brother, Ricky Campanella. He is also survived by his 5 precious grandchildren, Blake, Charlie, Eli, Reese and Tyler Campanella, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father, Edison (Grandad) Campanella and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. Visitation will be at Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 15615 Jefferson Highway February 17, 2023, from 10:00 a.m.-noon, followed by funeral services at the Church. Burial will be in Resthaven Gardens of Memory, 11817 Jefferson Highway.

Pallbearers are Matthew and Michael Campanella, Robbie and Bryan Lutz, Jacob Bourgeois, and Eric Murphy. Honorary pallbearers are Ricky Campanella, David Craft, Vance Dimattia, Brian McCollister, David McCollister, and Thomas Weaver.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital in Memphis or to Cancer Services of Greater Baton Rouge.

The family extends its sincere thanks to everyone who has been with Edison during his 4-year battle with kidney cancer. Even when some doubted, he kept the faith and pressed on “one day at a time”. Edison loved 2 Corinthians 5:7, “For we walk by faith, not by sight.” and he truly did. He knew that Jesus was his Savior and Heaven was his home. He will be missed.
