Emma Jane "Janie" Roberts

November 24, 1946 — June 5, 2025

Emma Jane “Janie” Roberts, cherished wife, mother, sister, and friend, passed away on Thursday, June 5, 2025, at the age of 78. Born in Franklin, Louisiana, on November 24, 1946, Janie was a beloved daughter of the late Dallas and Emma Lucy Noel Hebert. A long time resident of Terrytown, Louisiana, and recent resident of Bay St. Louis, Mississippi, she also spent many joyful years in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Janie spent her life inspiring young minds as an Elementary School Teacher, dedicating her talents to the students of St. Anthony Elementary in Gretna, St. Andrew the Apostle in Algiers, and RJ Vial in Paradis. Her commitment to education and her students reflected her deep compassion and understanding of the importance of nurturing the next generation.

She actively participated in her community, contributing her time as a member of the St. Jean Vianney Choir, serving as Choir Librarian, and engaging with the Women's Auxiliary of the Knights of Columbus. She also served as HOA Secretary and was a member of the St. Jean Vianney Crochet Club where she and her friends found purpose and joy in providing handmade keepsake blankets for foster children.

In her free time, Janie found joy in gardening, quilting, crocheting, and spending time with her beloved pets, Noelle and Jax. She cherished any moments spent assembling puzzles with her goddaughter and sister, Deanna Hebert, and held dear the bonds she created with family, friends, and neighbors.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Dallas and Emma Hebert, her brother, Wallace Hebert and her mother in law, Norma Guidroz Roberts, with whom she had a very special bond.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 57 years, Kenneth J. Roberts, Jr.; daughter, Tracy Lynne Roberts; sister, Deana Hebert; and brothers, Dallas Hebert Jr., and Wayne Hebert.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Mary Loup for her compassionate and unwavering support during this difficult time and all the years of the true bond of family and friendship.

The family would like to invite all who knew and loved Janie to join them as we commemorate her life. Visitation will be held at St. Jean Vianney Catholic Church, 16166 S.
