Ethel "Tippy" Daigle Blanchard

Oct 18, 1937 — Sep 17, 2026

Ethel “Tippy” Daigle Blanchard, a longtime resident of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, peacefully passed away on September 17, 2026, at the age of 88. She was born on October 18, 1937, in Klotzville, Louisiana. Tippy graduated from Redemptorist High School in Baton Rouge before continuing her education at Spencer Business College, where she developed the organizational skills that served her well throughout her 30-year career with Ethyl/Albemarle Corporation.

After marrying her soulmate, Joe C. “Jakie” Blanchard, Sr., Tippy devoted her life to creating a warm and welcoming home for their family. Together, they raised their two sons in a home centered on faith, love, and strong family values.

Tippy was a faithful charter member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, where she served as a Eucharistic Minister for many years. She was also a Prayer Partner at Cypress Springs Mercedarian Prayer Center. Tippy’s faith was an important part of her life, and she looked forward to her annual retreats at The Cenacle in Metairie.

Tippy was known for her outgoing personality, personal style, and commitment to excellence. She enjoyed an active life and was an accomplished tennis and golf player during the many years she and Jakie lived in Shenandoah and enjoyed the Shenandoah Country Club community. She was a member of the Ex-Shenandoah Ladies Golf Association. Ever the enthusiastic cheerleader, Tippy made friends easily and was always ready to join in the fun. Even after moving to Lake Sherwood Retirement Village in 2016, she continued to embrace life, learning new card games and joining the community bell ringers. She brought her warmth, energy, and joyful spirit wherever she went. She was also an enthusiastic supporter of all things LSU sports, cheering on her Tigers with the same spirit and enthusiasm.

Above all, Tippy will be remembered for her devotion to her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Tippy is survived by her sons, Chuck Blanchard (Marcia) and James Blanchard (Tara); sister, Carolyn Wiggins (Richard); brother, Howard Daigle, Jr. (Jaie); and sister-in-law, Cindy Daigle. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Madeline Gugich (George), Charles Blanchard (Hillary), Angelle Romaine (Andrew), Alyssa Cloud (Micah), Jacob Hathaway (Kristin), and Lauren Harris; great-grandchildren, Ainsley Gugich, Clay Gugich, Grace Blanchard, John Romaine, Joseph Romaine, and Henry James Hathaway; as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her cherished husband, Joe C. “Jakie” Blanchard, Sr.; her parents, Mae Richard Daigle and Howard Daigle, Sr.; and her beloved brother, Michael Daigle.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the Lake Sherwood Village Retirement Community, especially Cindy, Charlene, and Lorraine, as well as Audubon Health Services.
