Evelyn Delight Greenlee

Evelyn Delight (Dee) Baker Greenlee, 84, of Baton Rouge, LA, passed away on October 18, 2023, in Baton Rouge, LA.

Burial services will be held 10:00 am, Saturday, October 28, 2023 at Resthaven Gardens of Memory, 11817 Jefferson Hwy. Baton Rouge, LA 70816. Graveside Service will be performed with family and friends.

Delight was born Alexandria, La to George Holman and Evelyn Baker September 7, 1939. Shortly after her birth her mother remarried to Edwin A Baker, and he adopted her right away and she was raised as a Baker.  She went to school at several hospitals in the maternity ward for 19 years. She then worked as a security guard for Pinkerton’s Security for 20 yrs. And her last adventure was Alexandria, La where she graduated from Bolton High School.  He/she married James C Greenlee on August 02, 1957, in Alexandria, LA. He/she worked as a Certified nurse’s aide for in the working world was a financial advisor and bookkeeper for her husband’s TV repair business.  He/she was christened as a baby in the Methodist Church and later in life converted to Baptist where she was a Sunday School teacher.   

Delight is preceded in death by her father Edwin Allen Baker and her mother Evelyn Octavia Norwood Baker, her sister Noel Baird Baker Perkins, a son Gary Stephen Greenlee, and a Great-grandson Jacob Duane Simonelli.

Delight is survived by daughter Evelyn Elsbeth Greenlee Smith and husband John, daughter Diana Lynne Greenlee Stapleton, son James Crawford Greenlee Jr.. A sister Virginia Baker Reyher, and a brother George Irving (Bud) Holman and wife Sidney. Grandchildren Brandy Garcie, Jessica Simonelli Gross and husband, Stephen Garcie, Tabatha Stapleton, Shawn Stapleton wife and 2 children, Aaron Stapleton and wife and 2 children, Jason Stapleton, Codee Greenlee and 2 children, Heather Greenlee Lacombe granddaughter, and a host of nieces and nephews
