Jose (Joe) Francisco Palma, age 86, of Baton Rouge, Louisiana passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, July 19, 2026. He was born on July 20, 1939, in Merida, Yucatan Mexico to Jose and Jacinta Palma.
After immigrating to the U.S. in the early 1960's, Joe was drafted into the U.S Army and served for 32 years. Joe and his wife Sonia were married for 63 years. They had two sons, Jody and Chad, and a daughter Maria who died as an infant.
Joe retired as a Chief Warrant Officer 4 in 1994. He was a very proud American and was grateful for the opportunities afforded him. Upon his military retirement, Joe continued working as a constable in East Baton Rouge Parish until the age of 74.
Joe was an avid golfer and also enjoyed playing racquetball, softball, and soccer. He also loved watching NFL football and the LSU Tigers.
Joe was extremely proud of his sons and all of his grandchildren.
He will be remembered by all who loved him as a kind, loving, and generous man who enjoyed life to the fullest. He is survived by his wife Sonia, sons Jody (Leanne) and Chad (Sandy) and many grandchildren
