Freddie James Matthews, Jr.

Freddie James Matthews, Jr. passed away on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, at the age of 64. Freddie was born on February 15, 1962, in Franklin, Louisiana, to loving parents, Lillie Maude Johnson Matthews and Freddie Matthews Sr.

After graduating from Franklin High School, Freddie enjoyed a successful career as an entrepreneur and an offshore technician. Freddie was known and loved by many for his hardworking spirit and being a loyal friend. He filled his days enjoying numerous rewarding passions such as woodworking, construction, vehicle restoration, working out, reading and farming.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Lillie Maude and his brother, Kenneth "Sam" Matthews.

Freddie is survived by many who loved him including his father, Freddie Sr.; his sons, Derell Marks, Jarmarlon Tallmore, and Terrance M. Bergeron; his sisters, Gail Matthews Shreuder, Linda Matthews, Benita Matthews, and Joyce Matthews; his brother, Christopher Matthews; his brother-in-law, Rob Schreuder; his grandchildren, Derell Marks, Jr., Vivian Marks, Ja'Kyrie Sillmon, Ja'miah Raymond, Ja'kyla Tallmore, Malakai Bertrand; his nephews, Levaughn Thomas, Bryan Duffy, Nicholas Duffy, Christopher Matthews II; his nieces, Brittany Duffy, Brionna Lewis; great-nephews and great-nieces, DaJaughn, NaVaughna, Naomi, Ahessiah, Greyson, Ziyanna, Heaven, Hyland; close cousins Stanley Johnson Jr. and Lawrence Trepagnier; and his best friends, Oscar Cook, and Jon Jackson.

A private memorial service will be held for friends and family.
