Gary R. Magee, born on January 18, 1960, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, passed away on Saturday, September 13, 2025, at the age of 65.
Gary served in the army in the 82nd airborne division. He served in the Gulf War and was stationed in Germany. He also served in the National Guard. Gary was very proud of his military service and loved his country. While he was attending LSU, he was a manager for the LSU tennis team. He worked for Brec as a tennis coach. He loved playing tennis and golf. He graduated ITI and worked for the state of LA in Bridge Design. Gary helped design what is now the Central Thruway. He represented LA in Washington DC in 2016 at the ALS convention.
Gary is survived by his wife, Lisa Wells Magee; two stepsons, Patrick Johnson and Nicholas Johnson; brother, Bill Magee; sisters, Michelle Magee Walters and spouse, Greg, Danni Magee Downing and spouse, Paul; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is proceeded in death by his grandmother, Minnie Magee (Nannie); father, William Noel Magee; mother, Janice James Magee; mother-in-law, Helen Tingle Wells; and father-in-law, Delvin Wells.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Mitzi Holmes for her care and support during this time, as well as Danielle Walker for going above and beyond to care for Gary during his time in hospice.
Visitation will take place at Resthaven Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, beginning at 10:00 AM until funeral services begin at 12:00 PM. Burial to follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
