George William Robinson, Jr., of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, passed away on Friday, November 6, 2026, at the age of 84. He was born on Friday, November 6, 1942, in Borger, Texas, son of the late George W. Sr. and Lorene Golden Robinson. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from LSU in 1964. George married the love of his life, Demetra P. Robinson, on December 11, 1987.
Think about the most exciting, joyous experience of a person you could have ever met. George Robinson Jr. was that person in this life. He began his career in Houston, Texas using his mechanical Engineering skills. Moved back to his hometown of Baton Rouge to start his entrepreneur skills by developing one of the first mini warehouse storage center projects. He progressed as the local warehouse developer by creating mini warehouse locations. Moving forward, he built the Devonshire Apartment Project to help provide a home space for many people to live and raise their families. He loved the challenge of providing resources for his community, and had a deep desire to make their lives better.
His creative spirit and dedication to work lead him to developing subdivisions in the Baton Rouge, Zachary, Denham Springs, and Ascension Parish areas. His heart was always working on “what to do next that would benefit my community”. Above all creativity and thoughts of work projects, George focused on his personal relationship with the Lord.
In 2002, George and Dee founded Braveheart Children in Need, a local charity assisting children and youth in foster care throughout Louisiana.
George And Dee’s farm in Liberty, Mississippi gave him the opportunity to work outdoors with his cattle, gardening, hunting, and being outdoors in the beautiful creation of God. Joining Liberty Baptist Church gave George and Dee the opportunity to share God’s Word, songs, and worship with many Christian friends.
His joys were many, but George most cherished his loving marriage to his wife Dee. George also cherished his relationship with his brother Mike and time spent with nieces and nephews.
If you knew George, you knew he loved Gospel Music. He even taught himself to play the piano – playing hymns and singing with Dee each note that he played. And, knowing George you felt the presence of God in his life. Each morning, he and Dee’s conversation started with, “This is the day the Lord has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it.” – Psalm 118:24
And, what a wonderful gift he received on his birthday, to see his Lord and savior Jesus Christ.
George is survived by his beloved wife, Demetra “Dee” Robinson; his brother, Mike Robinson, Sr.; sister-in-law Theresa Karwath (Fred); nieces and nephews, Mike Robinson Jr. (Christine), Mark Robinson, Matthew Robinson, Jennifer McGuire (Mike), Christy Tate (Jeremiah), Graham Karwath (Chelsea); and Conor Karwath (Stephanie), and numerous great nieces and nephews.
