It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Glenda Taylor Fountain, lovingly known as “Sissy,” who departed this life on March 22, 2026, at the age of 83. Glenda was born on August 9, 1942, in Mobile, Alabama, daughter to the late Rita Young and James T. Taylor. Glenda attended Northwestern State University and Louisiana State University. Her passions extended beyond her work; she found joy in gardening, fishing especially shrimping, cheering on her favorite football teams, and creating cherished memories with her family and friends. She was a lover of all animals small and big.
Glenda is preceded in death by her beloved husband, John Harold Fountain; her parents, Rita and James Taylor; sister, Elizabeth Rogers; and brothers, Donald Taylor, Joel Taylor, and Chuck Taylor.
She is survived by her daughter, Joe’l Freeman; her sons, David Murphy and Peyton Murphy; her sisters, Rita Spiker (Mike), Cheryl Chausow, Terri Theall (Doug); her brother, James Taylor (Karen); sister in laws, Joan Taylor, Linda Taylor, Carmel Taylor and brother in law Richard Rogers. Her grandchildren, Ashley Murphy, Dustin Murphy, Jacob Freeman, Taylor Murphy, Joshua Freeman, Reese Murphy, and Morgan Murphy; her great-grandchildren, Rylee Johnson, Jacy Johnson, Jonah Johnson, and Benjamin Hagyo-Kovats, many Nieces and Nephews; and her long-time special friend, Ann Carson.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Leslie and Cindy for their compassionate care of Glenda.
